About Me

My name is Robert Kelland, a 23 year old recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts: Lowell where I majored in journalism and professional writing and minored in History. On the most basic level, I pride myself on two things, working hard and helping others. I am a certified EMT and hope to find a career in public service. As a young child, I loved writing. I remember being at CVS with my mother, begging her to buy me a notebook. A red, spiral bound notebook that I wrote short, one page stories in each night before I went to bed. As I grew older, I became extremely worried about what my peers thought of me and focused almost all my energy on athletics and being one of the "cool kids." It wasn't until I enrolled in New Hampton School for a postgraduate year after high school that I rediscovered my passion for writing.

I will be posting a number of essays and also articles with a more journalistic feel on the site. While my interests lie in creative nonfiction, I am also working on my first fiction novel. From time to time I will post short experts from that project, also. Ultimately, I enjoy all forms of writing and hope to use Out of The Wake as my first platform.

Enjoy,
Robert Kelland
